Venezuela

Anthropology, Indigenous peoples, institutions and public policy

His training in Social and Cultural Anthropology at the Central University of Venezuela opened a first cycle combining historical and archival research, fieldwork with Indigenous peoples and direct experience in public institutions. Here an idea took shape that runs through all his later work: understanding institutions from within, and understanding communities without losing sight of institutions.

  • Degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology (UCV, 2000–2005).
  • Historical and archival research on the Inquisition in Venezuela.
  • UNICEF project on Ye'kuana child-rearing patterns (2004–2006).
  • Experience in the Venezuelan public administration.
  • University teaching and teaching in social management.
  • Research on ethics and public institutions (2007).

Barcelona

Ethnographic research and intercultural relations

The master's at the Autonomous University of Barcelona consolidated ethnography as a rigorous method and opened new lines: kinship, childhood, gender, migration and bureaucracies. Research on institutionalised children through participatory methods and the analysis of international adoption already show a constant interest in where global norms meet concrete lives.

  • MSc in Ethnographic Research, Anthropological Theory and Intercultural Relations (UAB, 2008–2010).
  • Research on institutionalised children using participatory methods.
  • Article on the construction of internationally adopted children (Revista de Antropología Social, 2009).

Extremadura

Heritage, organisations, diversity and cooperation

At the University of Extremadura, the doctoral research in La Serena made intangible cultural heritage his central line. In parallel, organisational ethnography, international cooperation and work with Fundación Triángulo on memory, repression and protection of LGBTIQ+ people broadened the applied reach of his practice.

  • Doctoral research across the 19 municipalities of La Serena (thesis, 2025).
  • Organisational ethnography on diversity and wellbeing (2022).
  • Expert training in Development Cooperation (AEXCID and UEx).
  • Fundación Triángulo: Qué sabe nadie report and Voces que no callan audio series (2025–2026).

Nicaragua

Intercultural research and heritage

The Erasmus+ Americampus stay at URACCAN, in collaboration with the University of Extremadura, took his heritage work to Nicaragua's Caribbean Coast. In Bluefields, the study of the Palo de Mayo was built as a dialogue of knowledges with the Afro-descendant Creole community.

  • Erasmus+ Americampus stay, URACCAN and UEx.
  • Fieldwork in Bluefields (March–May 2022).
  • Paper at the 14th Central American Anthropology Congress (Panama, 2023).
